Our Story

ABOUT

Yucu Ninu, was born out of a passion for original, hand crafted indigenous homewares, home textiles & embroidered clothes from Mexico. All of our products are ethically sourced, many take weeks and months to produce. The name Yucu Ninu derives from an old Mixteco poem which praises the mountain of ‘Yucuninu’ for providing sustenance for humans and animals. We felt this was a perfect fit with what we hope to achieve with our project.

ARTISAN PARTNERS

We establish direct relationships with artisans and cooperatives, throughout Mexico. Many artisans, most of whom are women, struggle to continue their crafts & earn enough to feed their families. By buying directly from them at Fair Trade prices we hope to help to preserve ancient traditions and to aid in elevating artisans, promoting their work overseas, whilst encouraging & promoting social change in their homeland. Every purchase made helps to keep traditions alive & sustain the livelihood of Mexican artisans & their families.
